This piece finds its earliest inspiration in Imperial Roman bronze oil lamps, with spouts surrounding a central opening for refueling. A tri-spouted design influenced the formal arrangement of the work. During its development, my exploration of open and closed link chains across cultures led to a deeper study of ancient scales, which further informed the design. Ultimately, coinage from various cultures inspired the detailing, form, and inscriptions on the unique canopy.
