Product Spotlight
Origami Flush Mount
A blossoming, 12-sided flush mount with a delicately tapering form. This product line by Commune Design is inspired by the practice of traditional Origami, and each accessory is manufactured in the same spirit. Sheets made of solid brass are formed to bring these sculptural objects of utility to life.
Linear Sconce Medium
A linear wall sconce with warm-dim integrated LED lamping. The brass mesh scrim on these fixtures behaves similarly to a woven cloth textile; it has a natural wave and camber. The longer the fixture, the more this inherent surface variation is appreciable, especially against the straight edge of the frame.
Backlit Halo Mirror Small
A rounded square wall mirror with integrated LED backlighting. The softened geometry pairs with a gentle glow to create a warm, sculptural presence. The mirror is illuminated from behind, creating a light halo that emphasizes the depth of the brass frame.
Cylinder Exterior Wall Lantern
The Cylinder Exterior Wall Lantern is equally inspired by Japanese and Spanish traditions, fitting in a broad range of settings–both outdoors and in. Built with custom blown glass and meticulously crafted brass hardware.

Collaboration and Good Design
Commune founders Steven Johanknecht and Roman Alonso and Remains founder David Calligeros share a belief in the power of collaboration and of course, good design. From their first visit to the Brooklyn based Remains factory, Steven and Roman understood the design and technical capabilities of the Remains team and that a collaboration would be successful.
The original collection, launched in 2015, quickly became popular with Remains clients and remains so to this day. Their designs and collections are rooted in utility and versatility, finding wide relevance.
