From the Remains Archive. Available by private inquiry.
A double light wall sconce of cast bronze with a lovely, ruddy, aged patina. The backplate is an openwork composition of strapwork, scrolls, and foliate motifs that support dragon heads, a knight in profile, and a central grotesque from whose mouth issues the arms. The arms take the form of fluted columns having foliate capitals. Above them the gadrooned waxpans hold studded candlecups. Maker unknown. Originally acquired in Chicago, IL.
