Bronze Deer Sconce by Caldwell

A single-light sconce in its original dark bronze patina, made in the shape of a running deer, looking back over its shoulder. By the maker E.F. Caldwell. The sculptor here captured the graceful fluidity of the animal in action, rendered in a rustic or archaic economy of detail. Caldwell also made similar fixture with a rampant lion... perhaps giving fright to a deer.
