M.Fisher at Remains Lighting Co.

On February 1st, we announce our collaboration with artist Matthew Fisher. Drawing inspiration from the classical Mediterranean and ancient worlds, Fisher has conjured a remarkable and unusual lighting collection that seamlessly weaves traditional materials, classical inspiration, and innovative forms.  

Fisher rendered the Ariadne collection from unexpected shapes, perhaps echoing from myth, perhaps from nature, in the elemental materials of stone, leather, and metal.  

Fisher shares, “The spark for this series began with the imagery of Ariadne lighting the way for Theseus in the labyrinth with a string of glittering jewels. Though born out of mythology, the intent of the collaboration is to show stone as the object of desire, capable of bathing a space in a transfixing and novel quality of light. The individual forms in the series are distilled to pure geometries which retain their primal essence in the assemblies' silhouettes and hand worked materiality. Though pure of form and material, the coiling, burnishing, polishing, and honing of material is presented as art.”
